🎂👑"What Good is a Dragon?"🧐 Local author and illustrator Patrick Carlson popped in to take us on an adventure following Alexander as he sought out the perfect gift for the Queen. At the end of this birthday tale, students got in on the story as Mr. Patrick drew their birthday gift ideas! Thank you, @valdostastate's Beta Alpha Psi for providing our kiddos a fun afternoon and gifting ONE HUNDRED BOOKS so each could read along! 😱📚🤩 So - what good is a dragon, you ask? Well, we now have 100 kiddos with books snug in their backpacks that can tell you. 🥰📘

😄🤩 Did you know that we have a site in Brooks County?? Made up of three buildings, it includes a K-5 center, a Teen center, and a gym, PLUS a swimming pool. Every week students from all across Brooks County come to the Boys & Girls Club afterschool through the ECHOES program and experience spaces filled with academic enrichment, sports, swimming in the summer, and of course- lots of fun!!🎉🎉 👉 We don't think you should just take OUR word for it, though...Come see for yourself!! We'd love to take you on a tour for a glimpse of Boys & Girls Club life in Brooks County. 😎✨

Miss Tori's 6th Girls at Reames Teen Center and Miss Megan's 5th grade class at our Waller unit!!! They got an educational Power Town lesson, learned how electrical power works and saw a glimpse of the impact agriculture has on our community in South Georgia! ✨🎥 We are starstruck at what students accomplished in the making of "The Buick Special."🤩 Last Tuesday, the community showed up for the first-ever showing of the short film, “The Buick Special,” at the Brooks County High School Performing Arts Center. Students showed off their work after attending a four-week camp this summer where they learned the art of filmmaking and created their own short film! From leaning into teaching from professionals and creatives in the field about creating the foundations of story to learning how to work with cameras, compose shots, act, edit, and more - these students came together and created a MASTERPIECE.🌟 😃 Seeing the progression of these students from the first days of camp to the premiere of their film was spectacular to witness. Not to mention that the film itself was incredible and inspiring. To say we're proud is an understatement!💙 Thank you South Georgia Film Studios, PhilanthroFilms, Brooks County Schools, and individuals in Lowndes and Brooks County who saw potential in these students and pursued it! There are great things in store for South Georgia, and we are honored to be a part of it. Ms. Jeanette Newburn Coody - a life of service and a legacy built. We celebrated Ms. Coody’s induction into the Georgia @bgca_clubs Hall of Fame this week in Augusta, GA! Learning about friendship.✨ Ms. Natalie shared with our sweet 3rd grade girls about her friend, Stella, who she met through @compassion international! They learned that she lives in Kenya, but is just like them! She goes to school, does chores, loves spending time with her family, and even wants to grow up to be a doctor! We love seeing our kiddos experience different cultures and learn that there are kids just like them all around the world!💙🌍
